UPDATE 9:00PM EST February 8, 2014:

Hold up, wait a minute!  The so-called promoter of the so-called George Zimmerman boxing match has now deleted his previous tweets (see below — screenshots!), and is now saying he is going to make an announcement on Tuesday at a press conference.  Below are his recents tweets…let’s see how long those stay up on his page.

It’s not going to happen after all.

The now-infamous George Zimmerman celebrity boxing match has reportedly been canceled. Zimmerman was set to fight rapper DMX, but (thankfully) the controversial match won’t actually be happening.

In a series of tweets, promoter Damon Feldman explained his decision to cancel the match.

DMX’s publicist, Domenick Nati also released a statement this evening,

“Damon Feldman has announced that the George Zimmerman fight is cancelled via his Twitter. As previously stated, DMX never agreed to the fight and we thank you for all of the support from DMX’s fans. This situation will not affect any of DMX’s upcoming concerts in America or around the world.”

We think this is the right call. Read Michael Skolnik’s plea to DMX not to fight Zimmerman here.

What do you think?
