A spokesperson for Chipotle gave the following statement to Rolling Stone:

“If/when we get a check from Frank, we should be able to close the books on this. Right now, all we have is a photo online.”

Frank Ocean has sent a clear message to popular fast food spot Chipotle Mexican Grill: “Fuck Off.”

Recently, news came out that Chipotle was getting ready to sue the Channel Orange singer after Frank backed out of performing the song “Pure Imagination” for the brand’s “Scarecrow” ad campaign. (Fiona Apple ended up singing the song). Chipotle gave up half the fee ($212,500), but Frank never delivered the track.

Why? His people sent a letter to Chipotle explaining their reasoning:

“When Frank was asked to participate in this project, Chipotle’s representatives told him that the thrust of the campaign was to promote responsible farming. There was no Chipotle reference or logo in the initial presentation, and Chipotle told Frank that was an intentional element of the campaign.”

To avoid a long court battle, Frank did the proactive deed and gave the money back. Of course, he did it in the most Frank Ocean way possible, writing out a check and adding a little memo, posting said check on his tumblr:

How great is that?
