Warning: Objects in selfies are closer than they appear.

Jared Michael, a traveler with a clear affinity for dangerous selfies, decided to overstep that yellow line train conductors tell you to stand behind and got a face full of boot in the process.

In the video above, you can see Michael trying to take a selfie a little too close to the train tracks in Machu Picchu, Peru. When the train passes, the conductor’s boot makes contact with his head…and painfully so.

But if his quick quip is any indication, Michael came out of the selfie accident unharmed.

“Wow, that guy just kicked me in the head — I think I got that on film,” exclaimed Michael immediately after the incident.

Now, viewers are questioning the authenticity of the viral video, claiming that the whole thing was a hoax.

Like, why would Michael be taking a selfie while filming a video?

However, Michael claims the video is “100 percent real” and in no way a hoax, and says it was “way more shocking than painful.”

Hoax or not, it just goes to show that selfies are getting out of control.

But we knew that when this happened
