Is there such a thing as too much of a good thing?

Plaid is still having a moment, as observed by the Fashion Week spring runways, and Zendaya made a case for its staying power at the 5th annual ELLE Women in Music celebration yesterday. Nope, tartan is not just for cold weather, and when worn the right way, it can transcend the seasons and be chic all year round.

Zendaya hit the red carpet in a polished plaid suit by Vivienne Westwood, paired with an H. Lorenzo shirt and topped with a cream-colored fedora. Rather than being swallowed up by the pattern, she put her best foot forward in Ruthie Davis ‘Zendaya’ sandals.

But she wasn’t the only star with standout style last night. In a sea of attendees donning mostly black outfits, Sophia Bush was white bright in a Camilla and Marc leather look.

Overall, she kept it pretty simple by accessorizing with a boxy clutch and Stuart Weitzman’s ‘Nudist’ sandals.

Kat Graham, on the other hand, brought some color to the red carpet in printed separates from Lie Sang Bong and Brian Atwood heels. Her plunging neckline and thigh-high skirt showed just enough skin for the fashion fete.

Angel Haze rocked it out in all-black everything. With the exception of her Doc Martens shoes, she covered up in leather bottoms, a long button-up tunic and blazer.

And then there was Rumer Willis, who did the complete opposite, baring it all in a Franziska Fox frock and Sigerson Morrison sandals.

The cutouts of her dress left little to the imagination and gave her pink panties a peek-a-boo moment–whoopsie!

Ladies, let this be a lesson to us all: Do not leave the house without checking out every single angle of your outfit, just in case.
