Teyana Taylor stopped by Power 105.1’s hit morning show The Breakfast Club for an in-depth discussion about everything going on in her life.
The Harlem entrepreneur set the record straight on a wide variety of topics: losing her Adidas deal over her feud with Rihanna, what Beyonce taught her about the business, and of course, her ex-fiancé, NBA player Brandon Jennings, who is now dating her close friend Tae Heckard.
Teyana revealed that Tae never admitted she was dating Brandon until she found out news of their relationship was about to go public.
“Here’s the issue. You’re 36 years old. You’re a grown woman. I’m 23. How old are we here? As a woman, the moment that you found out that me and Brandon were engaged…Because when it hit the blogs, I called her. You know I’m gonna call. And what hurt me more was Brandon saying that we never been anything. I found out via the blogs.”
Teyana, who was completely hurt by the betrayal of a friend she had since the age of 17, did not want to believe it for a long time.
“When I seen the first seen the picture of them together, I thought he put her face on the body. Because you know guys do that for their Wednesday crush. The comments were like ‘LOL. You play too much.’ I didn’t know that it was a real picture because I thought Tae would never do that. How could we ever be friends if you’re engaged to my ex fiance? There’s no longer a friendship.”
Tey did not seem to have many ill feelings towards her ex, saying:
“This is my first love, my first everything. I respect him with all my heart. I’m close with his family. I can never have anything bad to say about him. I lost my virginity to Brandon two years after we were engaged. I got a ring two years before I gave up anything. My issue is with Tae.”
Another woman who isn’t on the best of terms with Tey is Rihanna. The two had a spat on Twitter some time ago, leading to Teyana losing her sneaker deal with Adidas. But Teyana made sure to praise Rih’s impeccable Vogue Brasil cover.
“She did have a nice [Vogue] cover. There’s levels to this grown woman sh*t. I don’t gotta like her to like the cover. Me and Rihanna used to be cool. I loved her to death. She’s a sweet girl. But at the end of the day, some things just don’t work. Rihanna’s a beautiful girl. She killed the cover. No, we are not cool. But at the end of the day, my loyalty is with my brother.”
The brother she speaks of is Rihanna’s ex, Chris Brown, who is currently incarcerated and spoke to Tey recently.
“He’s in good spirits. When he gets out, he’s going to be good. He’s not in there bitter or harping. He’s becoming a better man.”
