After months of speculation, Ray Rice and now-wife Janay Palmer are finally speaking out on the violent incident that occurred between them in a New Jersey Casino back in February.

At the time, security footage of Ray dragging his unconscious wife out of an elevator after he allegedly struck her leaked, leading his arrest for assault. According to TMZ, the two held a press conference yesterday where they addressed the incident publicly, and they both apologized for their actions.

Ray made his round of apologies first, not only saying sorry to his team the Baltimore Ravens, but also his fans:

“I also want to apologize to my fans, to the kids, to anyone who’s affected by this situation that me and my wife were in.”

He also mentioned that they have been doing therapy, saying, “throughout this time, we really had time to reflect on each other.” He continued:

“No relationship is perfect, but me and Janay together, when counseling is done for us, we want the world to see that it did help us out.”

Janay chimed in:

“I deeply regret the role I played in the incident that night.”

No details were revealed about what actually happened before we saw Ray dragging Janay out of the elevator, but Ray did add in:

“Me and Janay wish we could take back those 30 seconds of our life.”

As far as the case of his assault goes, Ray has reached a plea deal which requires him to enter a pretrial intervention program that allows defendants to avoid prosecution pending the completion of a specific set of rehabilitative conditions. This could allow the 3rd degree assault charge he’s currently facing to be dropped.
