In Philadelphia, a dead body on a gurney fell out of a coroner’s van and hit a busy roadway after the vehicle’s door malfunctioned.

And no, this was not some sick prank facilitated by the Punk’d crew.

But the accident, which happened around noon on Friday near a shopping center in Feasterville, Pennsylvania, was thought to be some sort of joke, according to passing motorists.

A photo, posted on Facebook by Bucks County resident Jerry Bradley, shows the corpse, wrapped in what appears to be a white sheet, lying in the street as cars buzz by.

Bradley, a passer-by who helped get the body into the van, said he thought it was a prank, calling it “the most bizarre thing” he’d ever seen.

We could imagine.

Fortunately, the driver realized that the door had opened and retrieved the body within minutes. The Bucks County Coroner’s Office says they “deeply regret” the incident. And probably their faulty van doors too.
