Watch out Michelle Obama! There seems to be some competition as to who has the ‘best dressed First Lady’ title.

Jackie O undeniably had a trendsetting sense of style in the 60s and 70s. From her famous matching suit sets to her white gloves, Jackie O set the tone for what elegance and fashion looked like at that time. And to celebrate what would’ve been her 85th birthday, we’re remembering some of the former first lady’s iconic style.

When Jackie became the First Lady during John F. Kennedy‘s presidency, the public grew fascinated by her simple approach to style, elegance, and beauty. Jackie O was a pioneer in rocking 1950s hairstyles with bell bottom pants, and for sporting classic ‘pillbox’ hats, white gloves and a range of trendy petticoats. Even after the assassination of President Kennedy, she continued to lead the way in fashion forward outfits.

She might not be around today and her style might seem a little too retro for this generation, but there are still a couple of things we can learn from her iconic style: sometimes a little can go a long way.

Check out Jackie O’s iconic and timeless style in the gallery below to see how she mastered a simplistic yet classy look.
