One man’s lack of patience is causing him to spend the rest of his life in prison.

According to the New York Daily News, California native Scott Russell Shipley was sentenced to 40 years to life for killing Christopher Demyen over an argument about his parked truck in May 2013.

Demyen was the owner of the Acton Water Co. and was filling up a pool with a water truck when Shipley pulled up on Eagle Butte Road in Palmdale. When Shipley was unable to pass, he approached Demyen, demanding he move the truck. Shipley then went into his home and got a gun. After the men got into a physical altercation, Shipley shot him in the chest.

The irate man then left his vehicle in the water truck’s way and went home to get his gun, authorities said. A witness testified in the April trial that the two got into a verbal argument and eventually Shipley told Demyen, “Hit me and see what you get.” Shipley then pushed Demyen, the witness said, sparking a fight. Shipley then pulled out his gun and shot the victim in the chest, the office said.

Shipley was found guilty of second-degree murder on April 25.

Demyen and his wife were expecting their third child when he was killed. Amber later gave birth to a stillborn she named Christelle.
