Did you hear that? That was the sound of hearts and the shells of Twitter egg avatars breaking everywhere, because Chrissy Teigen has exited stage left from the social media site.
After a two-day Twitter tirade against her, Chrissy was still all smiles in attendance of the Fashion Group International’s 31st Annual Night of Stars. She was on her best model behavior, posing for the paparazzi in a fuchsia dress, her hair in loose waves, with a lippy that matched the red carpet.
Earlier, though, things were much more doom and gloom for the supermodel on social media. She created controversy after the tragic shooting at the Canadian Parliament Wednesday, tweeting about gun violence in America:
active shooting in Canada, or as we call it in america, wednesday

That’s not a joke. It is a fact.

Sorry you don’t understand that is a knock at america and our issues with gun control. No one is minimizing the Ottawa shooting.

After refusing to apologize, Chrissy began receiving death threats and cruel comments from other Twitter users.
I’m not apologizing. If you take it wrong, that is your fault.

It’s been a while since I inadvertently pissed a ton of people off. Forgot how much it sucks.

I can’t see anything through the sea of hate and anger that is now my Twitter. Seriously I can’t sift through it all.

Yesterday, she decided enough was enough and announced she’d be temporarily giving up Twitter.
I feel sick. Bye Twitter. Taking my talents to instagram.
