UPDATE 11:43 AM EST:

We are sad to report that Lynzee Ford passed away on Thursday night. According to ESPN, she lost her battle with cancer just days after her inspirational graduation ceremony. As we reported earlier, she was just 17 years old and was determined to earn her diploma after being told she only months to live.

We are keeping Lynzee’s family in our hearts and prayers.

There are a lot of crazy things going on in the world, so when we hear a positive story like this one, it really warms our hearts.

Lynzee Ford, a 17-year-old senior at Kilgore High School who was diagnosed with Leukemia in January, was told she had just a few months to live and most likely wouldn’t be graduating with her class in the Spring.

According to BuzzFeed, the Texas student was very active in her school’s athletic program and when all of her friends realized what was going on, they moved the date for graduation and prom up so that she could participate.

The site reports:

Ford’s friends, family, and the school’s students and administration all gathered together to hold a graduation for the 17-year-old. Kilgore High School Principal Gregg Brown was the keynote speaker.

Prom is now scheduled to take place in November, instead of the Spring, and a fund has been set up to help with the family’s medical expenses. Awesome!

We will keep Lynzee, her family, and loved ones in our prayers. For more on the fund, head over to the Facebook page.
