A 90-year-old community leader from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida was arrested for feeding the homeless on Sunday. Arnold Abbott and two ministers were arrested under a new ordinance that forbids people to share food in public. They also face a $500 fine. Abbott, who runs the non-profit group Love Thy Neighbor, plans to head back out Wednesday to feed the homeless on the beach. While he’s worried he will be arrested, feeding the homeless is his biggest priority. [KTLA]
Some people are obsessed with their shoe game, but a Detroit group of teens went too far after they brutally beat another teen for his Air Force 1’s. 16-year-old Willie Wallace was sucker-punched in the jaw and later jumped by several teens for his shoes while heading to school in October. Wallace suffered a fractured skull and blood in his brain. He also bit off half his tongue during the attack. Detroit police have one teen in custody connected to the attack. Wallace’s mother says he will undergo surgery on his jaw this weekend. [The Root]
A toddler is in the hospital after getting shot in the leg by another toddler in Baltimore. The children got a hold of a shot-gun after it was left loaded in the victim’s bedroom. Thankfully, the victim sustained no life-threatening injuries. An investigation has been launched to find out information on the parents, and why there was a gun lying around in a child’s bedroom. Oh Florida, you’ve done it again. A 43-year-old woman from Florida was arrested after lying about having a condition that made her age faster. The woman was driving with broken tail lights when she was pulled over by the police. After the officer asked for her license, the woman identified herself as her daughter, 22-year-old Christina R. Topp, and said she had a rare illness that made her look older. She was arrested and charged with lying to the police and driving without a license. To make matters worse, she had previously been arrested for cocaine possession, during which she hid the drugs in her vagina. [The Smoking Gun]
