We wouldn’t want to eat sushi and sake with anyone else.
This isn’t her first rodeo, but Motown Records singer Mila J is making this one count. Since her teenage years, Mila J has been in not one, but two girl groups, before taking a moment and living her life without the glaring limelight.
Eventually, Mila realized music was her true calling, and embarked on a solo career. Luckily, all the hard work paid off with her break-out single “Smoke, Drink, Break-Up” peaking at number one on the iTunes R&B charts.
During her time in New York City, GlobalGrind’s Brittany Lewis took Mila J to one of the best Japanese restaurants in Manhattan’s Midtown East neighborhood, SEO. While sipping on sake, Mila discussed her life before fame and her self-titled debut EP.
And of course, there was boy talk.
Mila also explained the origin behind her “Rick Ross grunt,” and growing up in a multi-cultural family.
Mila’s self-titled debut EP is currently available on iTunes. Watch our exclusive interview with Mila J in the video above.
