We all know how this scenario goes. As soon as Halloween is over, Christmas is officially upon us. That means it’s officially time to break out the Christmas music, the Winter decorations and binge watch every holiday movie known to man. While we all have our classic favorites like The Grinch and Jingle All The Way, there are quite a few holiday movies that we know and love — that aren’t actually holiday movies at all. Outside of being set during the holiday season, they really don’t spend much time harping on Christmas carols and mistletoe. Let’s take a look at 5 holiday movies that really aren’t holiday movies below (in no particular order).

 

 – Die Hard –

An obvious entry into the not-so-holiday movie hall of fame would be Die Hard. Every year it’s argued as to whether Die Hard is a holiday film or not and every year the debate gets even more intense. Let’s begin with the facts, the movie is set during the holidays. Christmas Eve to be exact. Bruce Willis joked during a Comedy Central roast over the summer that Die Hard was not a Christmas movie, however, screenwriter Steven E. de Souza says, “If ‘Die Hard’ is not a Christmas movie, then ‘White Christmas’ is not a Christmas movie.” 

So, we’ll go with both and just say that Die Hard is a holiday movie that has nothing to do with the holidays.
