Think your love affair with the Sony Playstation 2 is over? Think again. Sony is projecting sales of over 6 million by year’s end. The console was introduced to game boys and girls over eleven years ago and its still up-to-date, matching even the PS3’s graphics. Its cheap price also helps. You can get a console from eBay for about $60.00 and used games run for as much as $3.00 on Craigslist.
Since the PS2’s debut in 2000, we’ve seen and played with Wii’s, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360’s, Xbox 360’s with Kinect and a boatload of other hand held devices. The PS2’s game library is perhaps one reason why the device is still kicking, even outselling the wallet breaking PS3. That said, GlobalGrind has assembled the 10 best PS2 games ever. Did yours make our list?

First released in March 2005, and based on Greek mythology, this insane and intense game, published by Sony’s Santa Monica division, sat un-opened in a friend of a friend’s apartment for four years. Once dude got the box opened, he was glued to the game’s themes of vengeance and redemption. The graphics were sick and the storyline even sicker, and Kratos, the protagonist (or antagonist depending on who you ask) wormed his way into our friend’s heart.

Give Marc Ecko a hand for trying to elevate graffiti culture to a whole new level. This game was like college for a toy name Trane, a rebellious young man who protested the Orwellian practices of the city government of New Radius. (Think Giuliani before Mayor Mike).
In his quest to take the city down, Trane receives graffiti writing instructions from a few graffiti legends including Cope2 and SEEN. Published in 2006 by Atari, Ecko caught beef from the City of New York after he organized a painting block party with subway facades to celebrate the game’s publication. He had a court date and everything.

We remember the day we got the demo of ‘Socom: US Navy Seals’ like it was yesterday but we won’t bore you with the details. Graphics and game play were on point and environmental details added layers upon layers to the game’s landscape. All one had to do was look at the how the grass was coded. ‘SOCOM’ was Sony’s first attempt at collective online play. It was developed by Zipper Interactive and published by Sony Entertainment in 2002.
