John Mayer opened up about his break up with Katy Perry while on “The Ellen Show.”
But now a source close to the former couple claims to know the real reason John and Katy broke up. Allegedly, John was jealous of Katy’s friendship with ex-husband Russell Brand.
“Sure, Katy was unhappy that John constantly flirted with other girls and played up his heartbreaker image, even when she was standing next to him.
“But, Katy gave it back. She knew that she could push John’s buttons by comparing his flaws to what she saw was great in Russell, which he hated!
“Katy and Russell still talk to one another, and that was another thing that irked John. He’s never been in a relationship where he wasn’t the main focus all the time and it bothered him,” the source says.
John was singing a different tune when he stopped by Ellen, though. He told the talk show host:
“It was a private relationship during and it’s a private relationship, still. I can understand asking the question based on some previous answers I have given but I have finally learned how to put the wall between one thing and the other. I’ve been much happier since then. I’m on the same journey as everyone else. Coupling is a tricky thing.”
Let’s hope that John and Katy can remain friends. From the looks of things, they’ll be fine.
