The-Dream hit up MTV’s Rapfix to clear the air about his participation in facilitating Rihanna’s controversial “Birthday Cake (Remix)” with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.

LIST: Rihanna’s Top 10 Raunchiest Lyrics!

To no one’s surprise, The-Dream revealed it was Rihanna’s idea to put Chris on her Talk That Talk banger.

“Rihanna called saying “I think I’m gonna put Chris on it,” I don’t know which Chris you talkin’ about, but OK, cool, whatever you say. When she raised the question to me, I know she’s not crazy. So my thought was you’ve been thinking about this, you’ve already thought it out, so evidently you know what reaction you gonna get.”

Rihanna and Chris Brown’s love affair has been front-page news and headline-worthy since there was an inclination of a reunion. Then, “Birthday Cake (Remix)” dropped and everyone’s suspicions were confirmed.

When asked about the obvious issue of domestic violence and Rihanna and Chris’ relationship, The-Dream said:

“I think he understands what happened. I don’t think he’s brushing it off. Most of the time when I see him doing something it’s out of defense of whatever it is. The defense comes from “I know that wasn’t cool and I understand that.” If something were really wrong with him he wouldn’t know, and then he’d be a little off, but he’s not. He was a kid, and she was a kid when this happened. Sometimes in music we forget that also, the normal rules of how life goes don’t really apply to artists when they get into this business. The rules of how life works are stripped from you.”

There it is. The-Dream has spoken and put all the controversy in perspective.

Are you all surprised that Rihanna wanted to initiate a collaboration with C.Breezy?
