The security measure was taken due to the high levels of violence that have been conducted in Afghanistan over the past few months. In early March, an American soldier identified as Robert Bales was accused of going on a rampage in an Afghan village, resulting in the death of over 15 Afghans, many of whom were children.

Since the devastating crime, radical groups such as the Taliban have responded promising brutal retaliation. Although the President has expressed sincere sympathy over the event, his life has still been threatened as of result of Robert’s alleged actions. That is precisely why the White House took such measures to ensure that his appearance in Afghanistan was not reported.

The work of the White House staff was to no avail, considering many news agencies reported on the event, causing a security breach.
