President Obama dropped the ball in round one of the presidential debates.

Every player has an off game, but in a heated and tightly contested race like this, Barack Obama can’t even afford to miss one jump shot.
From the start, it was clear that Obama didn’t bring his A-game. The quick-witted and cool president with a strategic plan of attack that we love, didn’t show up to the debate. In contrast, Mitt Romney had his game face on and played hard. He attacked the President every step of the way on the economy, taxes and the lack of jobs in America. Of course, his attacks where injected with fabricated truths and error, but it was Obama’s job to call him out and shut him down. Instead, we saw a subdued, meek incumbent that dismissed his challenger’s antics, when he should have been confronting them head on.
But that was just round one. Today, Obama proved that the game is not over and that he is in it to win!
During a rally in Denver, Obama blasted Mitt Romney for his contradictions about his plan to cut taxes for the rich and education. Candidly speaking, President Obama said that he did not know who showed up in place of the Republican challenger last night.
“When I got onto the stage, I met this very spirited fellow who claimed to be Mitt Romney. But it couldn’t have been Mitt Romney because the real Mitt Romney has been running around the country for the last year promising $5 trillion in tax cuts that favor the wealthy. The fellow on stage last night said he didn’t know anything about that.”
The crowd laughed as the President continued to differentiate the “real Mitt Romney” from his imposter:
“The real Mitt Romney said we do not need any more teachers in the classroom…but the fellow onstage said he loves teachers, can’t get enough of them.”
“The Mitt Romney we all know invested in companies that were pioneers in outsourcing jobs to other countries, but the guy on stage last night said he doesn’t even know that there are such laws that encouraged outsourcing.”
The man on stage last night doesn’t want to be held accountable for Mitt Romney’s decisions and what he has been saying for the last year and that’s because he knows fully well that we don’t want what he’s been selling for the last year.”
Obama also clowned Romney for threatening to fire Big Bird in order to cut federal spending and rebuild the economy:
“When he was asked what he’d actually do to cut the deficit and reduce spending, he said he’d eliminate funding for public television. That was his answer. I mean thank goodness somebody is finally getting tough on Big Bird. It’s about time.
We didn’t know that Big Bird was driving the federal deficit. But that’s what we heard last night. How about that? Elmo, too?”
Round one goes to Romney, but it’s up to Obama to keep the momentum going and stay in the game!
