Dennis Rodman sure does know how to ruffle some feathers.

Just days after North Korea defied the U.S. and set off their third nuclear test, basketball player Dennis Rodman traveled to the secretive country to enjoy some time with leader Kim Jong Un and a game of basketball.
If that wasn’t bizarre enough, Rodman and the oppressive leader shared some laughs and some political talks about the U.S. and President Obama that seemed to irk the White House.

Rodman made his intentions clear, however. In his post-North Korea interview this week, Rodman said that the experience was positive and that he considers Kim Jong Un a friend. And…surprisingly…he even hit us with a few quotes that left us wondering if Rodman is the real answer to quell the North Korea/American tension.
Is he brilliant? Or is he just crazy? You be the judge.
On his relationship with the oppressive leader:
“I hate the fact that he’s doing that [human rights violations], but the fact is that, you know what, that’s a human being, though. He let his guard down one day to me, a friend.”
Hmmm…Rodman’s got a point, we’re all human. But on the other hand, Kim Jong Un should probably recognize his wrongs before we start excusing him for violating human rights. So…we may have to throw this one out. Verdict: Crazy
On how Kim Jong Un wants to smooth things over with President Obama:
“He wants Obama to do one thing, call him […] He said, if you can, Dennis, I don’t want to do war. I don’t want to do war. He said that to me.
Seems reasonable enough, right?! Everything should start with a conversation! Not nuclear bombs and war. Rodman…we’re keeping this one. Verdict: Brilliant
On America calling the kettle black:
“It’s just like we do over here in America, right? It’s amazing that we have presidents over here do the same thing, right? It’s amazing that Bill Clinton could do one thing and have sex with his secretary and really get away with it and still be powerful.”
Also a good point. If we’re going to judge the way one leader runs his country, we should probably look at our own scoundrels. But also…I can’t say that Bill Clinton held 200,000 political prisoners. But you never know. Verdict: ???
On the solution to the whole nuclear testing debacle:
“He loves basketball. And I said Obama loves basketball. Let’s start there, all right. Start there.”
That’s just genius. If only all problems could be solved with a game of basketball. Rodman may be on to something here. Don’t sleep on him! Verdict: Brilliant
