I can’t end the year without bringing you up to date on the New York Police Department (NYPD) and their latest shenanigans.

STORY: Racism And Drug Planting In The NYPD, I’m Shocked!

In a year filled with cases of blatant racism, drug plantings and assaults on Occupy Wall Street protesters, the NYPD had their worst public relations year ever.

STORY: Mayor Blooomberg And The NYPD Got More Tricks Than David Blaine

And now the boys in blue, who swore to protect and serve, started a Facebook group (which has since been deleted) titled, “No More West Indian Day Detail.”

It seems many of New York’s finest aren’t feeling the vibrant parade that officially ends the summer in New York City and decided to air their grievances. They claim it brings a violent environment to the City, which they are tired of being around.

As one officer identified as Dan Rodney posted:

“I say have the parade one more year and when they all gather drop a bomb and wipe them all out.”

Isn’t that nice?

Another comment thread read:

“Why is everyone calling this a parade? It’s a scheduled riot.” While another said: “We were widely outnumbered. It was an eerie feeling knowing we could be overrun at any moment.”

Yes, these are the men who serve and protect our communities, grieving about few rotten tomatoes that spoil it for everyone.

STORY: FUCK THE POLICE! The NYPD Is Always Going To Fight Dirty?

Now on the flip side, the NYPD has a legitimate gripe, this year’s Labor Day weekend was one of the most violent in recent history: over 70 shootings took place in the city over the three day holiday. But it’s still no excuse to warrant the wiping out of a group of people having a good time.

As a Guyanese man who has frequented the parade and Juvee (the parties and festivals the night before the parade) I sort of understand where they’re coming from, on at least two occasions myself and friends of mine were almost robbed at gun point, which is why I haven’t been to either in about six years.

Either way, the NYPD still needs to check themselves at the door, everyone gripes about their job and being an police officer in NYC isn’t easy, but hey, it’s what they signed up for. So stop complaining and do your job.
