After months of political attack ads, the most expensive presidential campaign in history is finally coming to a close. Now it all boils down to one thing: voter turnout.

Why Is Voting Just So Damn Inconvenient?

Today Americans across the country will vote to either re-elect Barack Obama for a second term in office, or replace him with his Republican challenger Mitt Romney, two very different candidates, with contrasting visions for our nation. Over the last year and a half, we heard the two men battle it out with a focus on economic recovery and decreasing the unemployment rate. We watched them debate and we saw an intimate portrait of the contestants at the party national conventions. Now it’s time for us to make a decision about who we want to lead our country over the next four years.

The candidates have been paying close attention to winning over the key swing state of Ohio throughout the campaign, which holds a pathway to 270 electoral votes.

This election results are expected to be close, and could possibly lead to a postponement in tallying all the votes and absentee ballots and, subsequently, the announcement of the winner. The first polls will close in Indiana and Kentucky at 6 pm (EST) time.

Also up for grabs are a number of seats within the Senate and House of Representatives. However, surveys show that Republicans are expected to keep their lead in the House, while Democrats will most likely maintain an edge in the Senate.

If you haven’t already, make sure you head to the polls today and stayed tuned to our live election coverage tonight!
