George Zimmerman’s lawyer Mark O’Mara has scheduled a hearing Friday morning to discuss a disputed subpoena about Zimmerman’s medical records.

State prosecutors want more of Zimmerman’s medical records released.

As reported by the Orlando Sentinel:

The state is asking for Zimmerman’s records from an Altamonte Springs doctor’s office. O’Mara already has released some, those that show what treatment Zimmerman got the day after he shot and killedTrayvon Martin Feb. 26 in Sanford.

The 28-year-old Zimmerman says he acted in self-defense after the teenager got on top of him and began beating him.

Those already-released medical records show that Zimmerman had a fractured nose, cuts to the back of his head and a back injury, but Special Prosecutor Angela Corey’s office has asked for more, according to O’Mara’s pleading.

O’Mara says they shouldn’t get it. He’s asking Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester Jr. to quash the subpoena. Both sides are to be in court Friday at 8:30 a.m. Zimmerman is not expected to be there.

Zimmerman will not be in the courtroom according to a state employee.

In a statement from GZLegal case, O’Mara objects to the state’s request for additional medical records saying:

We object to the State’s request for additional medical records, as there has been no showing of relevance, or that these records would lead to discoverable, relevant information. We have agreed to review the records and voluntarily disclose what may be relevant.

Zimmerman is currently free on $1 million bond and is awaiting trial in the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
