It is common practice for restaurant workers to make small notes on bills to assure that the correct order makes it to the corresponding customer, but a Papa John’s employee took it one step too far.

The public relations rep, 24-year-old Minhee Cho, was appalled when she received her receipt for a small pepperoni pizza she ordered at the Hamilton Heights chain pizzeria, with a racist remark on the top.

According to The NY Daily News she took to Twitter to express her dismay:

“Hey @PapaJohns just FYI my name isn’t ‘lady chinky eyes,’” Cho tweeted, along with an image of the offensive receipt.

“I was very surprised because the lady that was serving me was super nice and we joked and it seemed super normal,” said Cho, an uptown resident.

Papa John’s tweeted Saturday evening that the employee is being axed.

“We are very upset by recent receipt issue in New York & sincerely apologize to our customer. Franchise employee involved is being terminated,” the tweet said.

When reached earlier by the Daily News, a Papa John’s assistant manager said she was certain her employees didn’t mean to offend the customer.

Minhee said she wasn’t super upset about the incident, she just wanted to shame Papa Johns by posting the photo, and she doesn’t plan on eating at the chain again.

The waiter should have tried describing the color of Minhee’s clothing instead of making remarks on her ethnic background.
