The President is putting his words into action.

On Thursday, President Obama visited the College Heights Early Childhood Learning Center in Decatur, Ga. to share laughs with the students, but most importantly, to tout the investment in early childhood education that he proposed during his State of the Union Address.

The initiative is expected to be beneficial to a larger economic program President Obama hopes to push through progress despite the financial concerns.

During his earlier tour of a pre-kindergarten classroom, the ‘President “rotated through the (classroom) groups,” said Mary McMahon, the intervention specialist at the learning center.

“He just came right in and joined the groups and it was perfect.” After one student walked up and hugged the president “all the other kids piled on,” said McMahon, who introduced the president before his speech.

The President was a hit at the pre-school, and he took the time out to play with the students and even have a little conversation.

Mr. Obama walked over to the first group of kids who were playing with blocks, and asked, “Can I help?” The children greeted him and asked him to play with them.

During the photo-op, one of the boys asked, “Are you our teacher?” Another boy said, “Welcome, Mr. President.” And another child said, “I saw you on TV.”

Mr. Obama gave one girl a high-five, and a fist-bump to another boy.

“You are doing great!” the President said.

President Obama vowed to focus and invest in early childhood education in hopes of making progress in closing the “achievement gap” between children who are raised in poverty stricken areas and children who are not.

“Education has to start at the earliest possible age,” said President Obama. “We are not doing enough to give all of our kids that chance.”

President Obama also hopes to improve high school education by redesigning the curriculum for “real-world learning” and include technology, science and engineering. College accountability for receiving federal aid is also a part of President Obama’s education plan.

That’s a win-win for us; promoting early childhood education and seeing adorable pictures of the President talking to toddlers. We love it.
