Those of you who thought that today’s Apple press conference would debut the iPad 3 shouldn’t feel too disappointed.

Although the iPad 3 is not being released – yet – an updated version of the iPad called the iPad HD is.

The updated version of the iPad will have a higher resolution and more pixels than the 1080p television that many of you have at your homes.

This evolved and improved screen would make text look smoother and some high-resolution pictures look better. But it probably won’t make much of a difference for images on the Web, or video. The 9.7 inch screen on the iPad will be clearer than what most television viewers are used to, which means that watching movies and music videos at that level of clarity will be a whole new experience for most.
The new product also sports a substantially more powerful processor, called the A5X chip.

Apple kept with the television theme by announcing that they will be also releasing a new version of the Apple TV. The updated version will still carry a $99 pricetag.

It is said to look like a rectangular hockey puck that streams Internet video to your television, adds a handful of new features, including support for Photostream to automatically display images from your iPhone, and will allow users access to TV shows the day after they air.

The new Apple TV supports the higher resolution 1080p specification and has a new user interface. It will be available on March 16.
