“Suit & Tie” was just the beginning…

Justin Timberlake took to his Instagram to announce the release of the sequel to his top-selling record The 20/20 Experience yesterday.

But JT wasn’t always the sexy and soulful artist he is today. In the hearts of ’90s kids everywhere, he’s still the boy band front-man with curly bleached locks and oh-so-90s dance moves. So, in honor of the release of his album sequel, we’re reliving the prequel, one horribly awesome moment at a time.

Sorry, Justin!

1. We all remember Justin as the N’Sync front-man with the curly bleached fro. What you may not remember is the time he decided to tame the beast…with braids. Yup, they’re just as bad as we remember.

2. That time Justin tried his hand at rapping. Yup, it happened. And thanks to the internet, the video footage of N’Sync performing “Just Got Paid” at the 2000 Billboard Music Awards still exists and we can revel in Justin’s bad rhymes and worse wardrobe. JT and the N’Sync boys pay homage to the past in these brightly colored zoot suits. Watch and enjoy as Justin, Joey, Lance, JC and Chris make it rain nearly a decade before Fat Joe released “I Make It Rain.”

3. Unfortunately, Justin wasn’t always on his “suit and tie shit.” At the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards, Justin debuted this little gem on the red carpet. The brown velvet suit, which he paired with a mustard yellow button down and tie, look a little more like a vintage piece of furniture your grandma might still be holding onto then something you should wear, but hey…he’s Justin Timberlake!

4. Long before he was making girls everywhere swoon with his flashy outfits, insane dance moves and catchy lyrics, Justin was a member of the Mickey Mouse Club. In this clip, he and heartthrob Ryan Gosling try to get to the bottom of Xscape’s band name. We can’t decide if we love his overalls or adorably bad acting skills more.

5. Justin’s fashion faux pas were at an all-time high by 2001, but we think this one takes the cake. At the 2001 VMA’s, Justin performed alongside his bandmates in this uh…creative spray painted outfit. What even?!

6. In keeping with their wholesome appearance, N’Sync appeared on Sesame Street to remind kids to believe in themselves. Nice hat, Justin.

7. While performing “No Strings Attached” on their world tour, Justin and the boys stepped out on stage in these matching outfits which we think look a little pirate-esque. Argh!

8. Who could forget N’Sync’s attempt at spreading Christmas cheer with this little video that looks more like Gap commercial than a music video. Whoever made the decision to cast Gary Coleman as an elf–nice touch!
