George Zimmerman’s bond has been revoked in the Trayvon Martin shooting case. Zimmerman has at least 48 hours to turn himself into police. Once he surrenders Zimmerman will be held without bail until a next hearing but the Judge has set no date yet.
As Seminole County Circuit Court Judge Kenneth Lester said-
“And he can’t sit back and obtain the benefit of a lower bond or circumstances based upon those material falsehoods.
That’s what they were. So at this time, revoke his bond, place him on no bond status. Find that good cause exists based upon the material misrepresentations that the court relied upon. Order him to surrender himself within 48 hours to the sheriff of Seminole county,”

Prosecutors in the George Zimmerman case contest that Zimmerman told his wife, Shelley Zimmerman, about PayPal donations he was receiving while in jail, and that she lied in the bond hearing about being aware of these funds.

Prosecutors are asking for Zimmerman’s bond to be revoked and that he be sent back to jail for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
Prosecutors also said that Zimmerman had a second passport in addition to the one he surrendered to police after he was released on $150,000 bond.
Zimmerman’s PayPal account collected more than $200,000, his attorney later revealed.
The prosecution went on to say that Zimmerman “intentionally deceived the court” with his wife and talked about monies received “in code to hide what they were doing.”
Zimmerman’s defense lawyer says he is not ready to argue motion to revoke bond. The Judge deemed it a “very, very serious” matter. The prosecution says that Shelley Zimmerman lied, saying she “flat out lied to this court.”
On the issue of Zimmerman’s passport the prosecution said:
“Zimmerman surrendered had been reported lost or stolen. He didn’t turn over new, valid one.”
They are asking for Zimmerman to turn over his passport.
On the issue of the money Zimmerman received in donations, prosecutors contend:
“This court was led to believe that they didn’t have a single penny” saying that Zimmerman called his wife from jail before bond hearing & “repeatedly tells her about the money.”
Lawyers for the state believe that Zimmerman’s wife is guilty of contempt of court for lying and are asking for Zimmerman’s bond be revoked, raised and for him to be sent back to jail.
Contempt of court usually results in a maximum of 6 months in jail.
If a judge decides that there was wrong-doing and Zimmerman’s wife lied, he can be sent back to jail.
Lawyers on both sides are in a Sanford, Florida courtroom today deciding whether or not to release key pieces of evidence and make them public to the media. The bond issue will be discussed at the end of the hearing.
