According to the Baltimore Sun, Carr told police he had repeatedly beaten Mya all over her body with his hands because he was angry that she had had ‘an accident.’

Mya was found in Carr’s home covered in injuries to her arms and legs, with broken ribs, fractures to her face and blood in her nostrils.

Carr had called 911 at about 10.30pm claiming to have found his daughter unresponsive in the bathtub, reports the Baltimore Sun.

When paramedics arrived, they found the Mya’s bloody body on the bathroom floor with visible signs of trauma to her arms and legs, and other areas of the body.

According to court papers Detective Aaron Cruz said:

“Evidence strongly indicated Mr. Carr attempted to clean the crime scene. Cruz went on to say that, “Some of her injuries would indicate that she had been abused in the past.”

The child was taken to Sinai Hospital where doctors found several injuries and blood near her vagina.

Neighbors placed teddy bears and flowers on the front porch of the house on Callaway Avenue where Mya died.

Authorities said that Carr did not have custody of his daughter and that she was visiting him and alone in the home at the time.

Carr was charged on Tuesday night with first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in the death. He is also facing a lesser murder charge, assault charges and reckless endangerment. Carr was denied bail and is to remain in jail until he is due to appear at a preliminary court hearing on March 27.

If convicted, Carr faces life in prison.
