The family of Trayvon Martin spoke about Florida State Attorney Angela Corey’s decision to charge George Zimmerman with second-degree murder, standing beside Rev. Al Sharpton and family attorney Benjamin Crump.

STORY: George Zimmerman Charged With Second Degree Murder

Sharpton said at the press conference-

“Had there not been pressure there would not have been a second look. This is not a night for celebration. This is a night that should not have happened in the first place.

Sharpton continued-

“We don’t want anyone high-5ing tonight. There was no winner tonight. This is not about gloating. This is about pursuing justice.”

Family attorney addressed reporters and said-

“We thank you to all those people who signed the petition to do something even if you didn’t know who Trayvon Martin…to all the high school students and young people who believed completely in justice, the idea, the dream, those are the people who are here today saying they can make a difference.”

With tears in her eyes, Trayvon’s mom, Sybrina Fulton told everyone-

“We wanted nothing more, nothing less, just an arrest that’s all we wanted was an arrest from the very begining…a heart has no color its not black or white it’s red, thank you from my heart to your heart.”

Trayvon’s dad spoke next and expressed that the fight is not oversaying-

“Thank everyone once again…this is just the begining and we will continute to have faith. From the first march we walked by faith. We will continute to march until the right thing is done.”

It has been a long journey but a small piece of justice was achieved today.
