After a horrific and alarming video of a dad and his daughter watching the Texas fertilizer plant exploding circulated through the internet, many wondered if they had escaped safely.

VIDEO: Fertilizer Plant Explodes In West, Texas! Multiple Deaths & Hundreds Of Injuries Confirmed

Now, the father, Derrick Hurtt, is speaking out about that terrifying moment.

On NBC’s Today show, Hurtt spoke about the violent explosions he experienced with his 12-year-old daughter, Khloey.

She’s the one that can be heard in the background, frantically asking her father to get them out of harm’s way.

The two tell NBC they were about 300 yards west of the West, Texas plant, shooting video when the explosion happened.

Hurtt can be heard asking his daughter if she’s OK. She responds that she is and begs her father to drive away.

“Please get out of here, please get out of here. Oh my God, dad please get out of here,” she can be heard saying. “I can’t hear anything.”

Hurtt described a scene of terror in the moments after the explosion.

“It was a pretty horrific scene, some of the injuries we saw,’’ Hurtt told Matt Lauer.

He says the force of the explosion lifted his truck off the ground. “It just blew me over on top of her,” Hurtt told Lauer. “It all happened so quick that things just kind of went black for a moment.”

Hurtt said his daughter’s inner ear is sore, but she has her full hearing back. He estimated they were 250 to 300 yards away from the plant when they started filming.

Wow! We’re so glad they are OK! Our thoughts and prayers are with Texas at this time.
