This weekend was the Annual Fools Gold Records “Day Off” concert for Labor Day in NYC and the show was off the chain! It’s just unfortunate that a lot of people didn’t get to see all of it, and not just the regular folks either, the VIPs as well.

Like every other Fool’s Gold event, the show brought tons of people out of their homes to hang out and enjoy good music and good times. This time around, French Montana was set to headline the show, Danny Brown hit the stage, as did artists like Theophilus London, A$AP Rocky, Chromeo, World’s Fair and the Flatbush Zombies. But what happened in the audience changed everything…

Outside, while security tried getting ticket-holders into the City Winery Backyard where the event took place, many people waiting began to get restless. Soon enough, they stopped caring about playing the waiting game and rushed the doors. All at once, both the regular entrance and VIP entrance was completely open for everyone to rush in and that’s exactly what they did. Some said that up to 500 people got in without being properly checked and because of this, someone ended up in the back of an ambulance and the entrance into the event became much more secure. This time around, security was not alone at the gates, the NYPD were also helping to regulate the crowd.

Luckily GlobalGrind got into the event and although we were in VIP, soon enough we were told with everyone else that we had to leave. As a media outlet, we were shocked that badge-wearing police officers came back there telling people to leave as if there were some sort of “crime ring” meeting going on, but what was even more surprising was that even the artists who had performed were told to leave.

Within 20 minutes, the entire VIP had cleared out and was now in the street, outside the concert. French Montana had not performed at this point, nor had Danny Brown and all of the people who were patiently waiting for him behind the scenes were left without a performance.

Everyone from Theophilus London to P-Thugg of Chromeo weighed in on the situation in the video above. Check it out.
