Big Boi’s long anticipated solo album, Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, has experienced more delays than an airline, so everytime the Internet receives a leaked track from the project, we cherish it. We don’t know if July 6 — the latest proposed release date — will go on as planned, or if in the next couple of weeks the album will be pushed back again, therefore, we must make our own album with the scraps we are given.
Two new cuts we can add to our own makeshift Sir Luscious Left Foot album are ‘Back Up Plan’ and ‘Follow Us’, and both only further prove Big Boi’s solo effort is a monster. ‘Back Up Plan’ is classic Dungeon Family, with little bleeps and record scratches adding an extra flair to the marching band feel of the beat’s rhythm and sing-songy chorus. ‘Follow Us’ goes with a slightly different vibe, offering up some dancehall-esque drums, topped off with a melodic hook by the pop/rock duo Vonnegutt, thus making the song’s island feel complete.
