Lloyd Banks only rides Beamer Benz or Bentleys, but how about a VW Beetle? It started with a simple idea familiar to Americans, the trailer.  Upgrade that trailer with a German makeover and what do you get?  An eco-friendly, child-friendly 3 floor ‘car’ where you can literally eat, sleep and drink in.  The first project that Markus Voglreiter worked on was a 70’s inspired auto residence in Austria.  The home that he built was 900 square foot which actually sounds very spacious compared to a Manhattan studio apartment.  The car-house is also 3 floors and compartmentalized with two dwelling areas making it appropriate for a small family.  A 3-liter heating and insulation technique makes the auto residence energy efficient and is minimized in its consumption.

Years later Voglreiter teamed up with his original muse Danielle Porsche with an investment of 1.6 million euros and built a car-restaurant-bar called ‘The Car. Das Auto’.  The establishment accomodates 300 guests and also has room for 350 on the terrace for outdoor dining.  The dining experience as Das Auto would feel like eating inside of a modern robot that truly caters to humans. Take a look at the pictures in the next pages of this one and only architecture!
