Mike Tyson might be the greatest sociologically experiment of the last century. Tyson is raw, outspoken, self deprecating, real and very different from the young man we met 25 yrs ago. The youngest heavyweight champion in history knocked them down and out.  Tyson is a truly remarkable figure that represented the 1980’s as much as Michael Jackson did, like the Notorious B.I.G. said “I perform like Mike, Anyone — Tyson, Jordan, Jackson”

The elements that make up Tyson are simple, intimidation, fear, tenacity, anger and a little bit of craziness. The key is however, and this is what made Tyson so great, was his ability to balance each of these components for the purpose of winning. That’s what made Tyson so great in his day, that’s what made him a fan favorite and money maker. I can’t think of a fighter today that have all those qualities and display them like Tyson did.

But that was then and this is now, today’s Mike Tyson is much calmer, friendlier and approachable but has turned all the great attributes that made him a champion onto himself. Tyson has become the most self deprecating man you can think of. Tyson describes himself as a pig, a man struggling to love himself. Like we said before the greatest sociologically experiment of the last century.

In a recent Deatils Magazine interview Tyson reflects on his life, his trials and tribulations and how he feels about people, Tyson describes himself as a pig, as he tells Details;

‘Because I think I’m a pig. I have this uncanny ability to look at myself in the mirror and say, ‘This is a pig. You are a fucking piece of shit.’

A little glimpse into the life of Mike Tyson, self deprecation is a component of Tyson’s life that he continues to practice. Tyson always speaks about himself like this because he doesn’t feel he’s worthy of people’ love. A remarkably complex individual.
