Katy Perry has made Hot 100 history, and no one can match her but the “King Of Pop” himself, Michael Jackson

Bubblegum pop singer Katy Perry has tied the late great Michael Jackson’s record of having five number one hits on one album.

Katy Perry’s album Teenage Dream has been a pop smash, and boasts songs like, “E.T.” (featuring Kanye West), “Firework,” “California Gurls” (featuring Snoop Dogg), “Last Friday Night (TGIF),” and “Teenage Dream,” all of which went number one on the Billboard charts.

It’s been 53 years since Billboard launched their music charts, and in five decades only Michael Jackson boasted the achievement of five number one records on his Bad album.

Now, that Katy Perry has achieved the same success, does this make her the official “Queen of Pop?”

We played the number game yesterday, when Rolling Stone released their article labeling Eminem the “King Of Hip-Hop,” and many people said numbers matter, so let’s play the numbers game for a quick moment.

EXCLUSIVE: Numbers Don’t Lie, But Is Eminem Really The King Of Hip-Hop?

Katy Perry’s direct competition in the pop world is Lady Gaga and Rihanna, both of which are doing astonishing things for pop music.

Rihanna, who is super hot, super talented, and super sexed out, has millions of fans, but doesn’t quite have enough influence to reign as the current “Queen of Pop.”

Lady Gaga on the other hand is killing the pop game and shocking the world almost everyday with her crazy antics, but is she the “Queen Of Pop?”

We’ve seen Lady Gaga before and her name happens to be Madonna.

Madonna, who is beyond labels, made a lane for women in pop music, and she made pop music the “it” genre with the king Michael Jackson in the late 80s.

There’s no doubt that Lady Gaga has millions of fans and the stats to back up her pop status, but we’ve seen it all before.

Although, Lady Gaga sold 1 million copies of Born This Way in a week, she attempted to make history in 2009 with her The Fame album, but it fell short of having five number one singles.

As she walks around half-naked with hot gay men, and as she uses borderline blasphemous religious symbols in her videos, and as she appears naked in a weird costume on magazine covers, I’ve realized that she’s nothing more than a Madonna carbon copy.

To Lady Gaga’s credit she’s an amazing singer and she’s had the ability to utilize some of Madonna’s best stunts without being blatantly disrespectful.

Katy Perry on the other hand has made her own lane in pop music, as the biggest bubblegum pop artist out.

All of Katy’s five hit songs have spent an impressive 18 weeks on the top of the Billboard charts, which to my surprise surpasses Michael Jackson’s five songs which spent a combined 7 weeks on the charts.

All of this I mention to obviously not take anything away from Michael Jackson, but just to point out Katy’s pop music influence.

As fans and critics of Lady Gaga are becoming seemingly disinterested by the crazy stunt Gaga will pull next, Katy Perry is keeping her music fun, catchy, and consistent.

No stunts, just fun pop music.

I say in 2011 Katy Perry is the “Queen Of Pop,” there’s no telling who will take it for 2012, but for now she boasts better boobs and more hits than her biggest competition Lady Gaga.
