A dawg can be a R&B diva’s best friend.

American Idol judge Randy Jackson is in negotiations to become Mariah Carey’s manager, according to the Hollywood Reporter

MUSIC: Mariah Carey & John Legend “When Christmas Comes”

If you know anything about Mariah, this partnership shouldn’t be a surprise. The two have had a relationship for years.

Jackson was Vice President of A&R at Columbia Records during the 1990s, while Mariah was at the label. Jackson also did some production work on past Mariah albums such as Glitter and Charmbracelet.

Randy has his fair share of experience managing artists, he guided the careers of musical acts like Nikka Costa, Van Hunt and Paper Tongues.

DETAILS: Mariah Carey Says No Nudity For Nick!

Before this, Mariah Carey previously had a management deal with Chris Lighty’s Violator Entertainment.

We think Mariah and Randy will make a great team. There’s absolutely no way with a singer as accomplished as Mariah, Randy will have to use his favorite Idol criticism: “Pitchy.”
