We all know that the Foo Fighters rock. Well apparently they rock harder than we thought.

According to geologists at Aukland GeloNet, a Foo Fighters concert in New Zealand Tuesday night was so loud that it caused geological vibrations that are comparable to a volcanic tremor.

There were two seismic stations recording ground vibrations. The first signs of vibration started at 7:30 pm, during Tenacious D’s opening act set.

The vibrations reached their volcanic peak around 8:20 pm when the Foo Fighters first hit the stage.

According to Aukland GeloNet:

“The cause of the shaking is most likely the weight of the 50,000 fans dancing, as 50,000 fans is equal to around 5,000 tonnes of mass moving(or moshing)on the ground for the duration of the concert.  This set up a nice harmonic vibration in the ground which was recorded in our nearby borehole seismometers.”

Jeez, we always knew music was powerful — but this is ridiculous!
