Last night Prince put a spectacular end to his ‘Welcome 2 America Tour’ at New York City’s world famous arena, Madison Square Garden.  With an extended set complete with his biggest hits and a couple of covers, the show ended Prince’s first time touring on the east coast since 2004 and I am proud to say that I was in the building!

To kick off the show Cee Lo Green gets the crowd ready for the main event by performing several cuts off of his latest album, The Lady Killer, including its lead single ‘Forget You.’  Though the Garden is only three-quarters full for most of Cee Lo’s performance, it becomes packed to the brim with excited fans by the time Prince is ready to command the stage.

To a thunderous roar of cheers, dressed clad in a shimmering gold suit accessorized with a pair of sparkling stilettos and armed with his trademark Telecaster guitar, Prince doesn’t wait any time delivering an electrifying performance.  By now the energy in the Garden is surreal and you can just feel the heavy vibration of the entire arena from the audience dancing the night way.  It was a fun-filled experience I don’t believe anyone actually sat in their seats the entire night.

After nearly an hour of performing back-to-back hits such as ‘Purple Rain,’ ‘1999,’ and ‘Raspberry Beret,’ Prince disappears beneath the stage, which was modeled after his famous insignia.  Before leaving, he bid the fans goodnight only to have Cee Lo shortly reappear to perform his hit record, ‘Crazy.’

To the delight of the audience, Prince returns halfway through the song, guitar in hand and delivers an amazing lead guitar and solo performance to compliment Cee Lo’s powerful voice.  After the duet is over Prince sets aside his guitar and plays more hits and a few covers on a grand piano, which was appropriately colored purple.

Toward the end of the show Prince invites several people from the audience to dance with him on stage, including reality television star Kim Kardashian, whom he swiftly kicks off the stage after the refuses to boogie with with him.  Other celebrities that came to rock out at the energy filled event were the Reverend Al Sharpton, comedian Chris Rock and Roots drummer ?uestlove.

Overall the show was amazing and was a great finally to what must have been a truly amazing tour!
