Pre-production has started on the iPad 3 and iPad mini, reports tech blog Digitimes.

The blog has a spotty record when it comes to Apple predictions, but according to their report, Apple’s preparing to roll out a 7.85-inch iPad in 2012.
Digitimes gets their information from part suppliers in China and makes predictions based on those purchases.
Citing unnamed “sources in the supply chain,” the Digitimes reports that the rise of the Kindle Fire and smartphones with larger screens, forced Apple to act.
So, expect to see an iPad 3 and/or iPad mini within a few months, or at the end of next year!
