Gunshots rang out in 2 neighborhoods in Chicago where four teenagers shot and one of them, a 16-year-old boy, was killed.

He was shot Wednesday afternoon near 86th Street and Colfax. An 18-year-old who was also shot was in critical condition Wednesday night.

The Chicago Fire Department says the 16-year-old was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital. The 18-year old was taken to the same hospital for surgery.

Most Chicago public school students just returned to classes yesterday, and already, a 16-year-old sophomore at Bowen High School has been shot to death.

Deantonio Goss, 16, a Bowen High School student on his way home from school, was shot and killed in the South Chicago neighborhood around 3 p.m.

Witnesses reported hearing eight or nine gunshots shortly after school let out at approximately 2:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Police marked a number of shell casings seen in the middle of the intersection at 86th Street and Saginaw where the 16-year-old was shot.

Neighbors called 911 as the shooting continued, and the 18-year-old victim ran down the street.

Souces say the shooting may have been the continuation of a fight that broke out in the cafeteria during lunch at nearby Bowen High School. The 16-year-old victim was wearing his school uniform.

On the city’s Northwest Side, two more teenagers were victims of gunshots. Police say a 13-year-old and 16-year-old were standing outside in the 2800-block of North Lockwood when someone fired shots from a passing car.

Both of those teens were hit in the leg.
