Adele took to her personal website yesterday and penned a heartfelt message to the late Etta James, who passed away last week Friday.

In her blog post, Adele revealed her admiration and respect for the singer, whose music spanned across a variety of genres including blue, jazz and rock & roll.
Adele also reminisced over a time in which she had the opportunity to see James perform live at BB Kings in New York, revealing that it was an event she would never forget.

Adele wrote:
“What a lady Etta James was. She was the ultimate original. Her voice was breath taking and her songs are reflections we all recognise in some way or another. Its an honour every time I hear her voice. I saw her at BB Kings in New York a few years ago, and it was something I will remember forever. Thank you to Etta James. And i send all my love to her family and friends xxxx”
James’ passing was truly a shock to us all. We send out our love & prayers to her close family and friends.
