Welp, shots have been fired once again, so the Lil Kim vs. Nicki Minaj beef saga continues on.

I know the beef between female rap legend Lil Kim and rap’s latest feminine phenom Nicki Minaj is entertaining, but honestly, it’s so unnecessary.

Beefing in hip-hop is like a sport, I get it, but we all know that everyone isn’t good at sports, so sometimes this “sporting” event shouldn’t even kick off.

It’s obvious that when Nicki first hit the circuit, she paid homage to Kim with her Sucka Free mixtape cover, which is a modern-day replica of Kim’s classic Hardcore

The two femcees collaborated on a song together. But in the midst of collaborating and paying homage, Kim must have gotten her wires crossed, and then the beef began.

After Lil Kim performed in New York City in the summer of 2010, all hell broke loose. Before exiting the stage Lil Kim made a statement alluding to Nicki, which released the floodgates and a beef was born.

“We just want her to pay homage so we can all rock together. It’s all about respect….If you don’t respect me, then f*ck you.”

Nicki kept it cute, and didn’t initially respond to Lil Kim’s obvious diss. Instead, she let her Young Money brother Drake respond for her stating:

“I don’t give a f*ck what Lil’ Kim or nobody else talkin’ about. You the baddest chick to ever do this sh*t!”

And that’s when sh*t began to get hectic on both ends of the spectrum. Everyone was then forced to choose a side.

Older generations of hip-hop lovers obviously picked Kim, and the younger generation of hip-hop lovers rode for Nicki.

After a barrage of subliminal disses from both parties, the official diss tracks hit the ‘net, and let’s just say, feelings weren’t spared.

When Nicki dropped “Roman’s Revenge,” I have to admit that it was exciting and it gave a little life to an otherwise drama free rap game.

With lines like, “Is it my fault that all of you b*tches gone?” and “Word, that bitch mad ’cause I took the spot?/Well, bitch, if you ain’t sh*ttin, then get off the pot/Got some n*ggas out in Brooklyn that’ll off your top.”

Hip-hop fans’ hopes were high, then Nicki deflated our dreams by saying it wasn’t a diss track to Kim. Well answer us this Nicki, who were you talking about in “Roman’s Revenge?”

Oh, that’s right, Lil Kim! Just like we thought.

Kim comes back with her diss track “Black Friday,” which was basically a fail in rap terms, but the effort was honorable. And then Nicki kept bringing the disses, one after another, after another. From “Roman In Moscow” to “Stupid Hoe,” Nicki won’t let the beef go.

It’s obvious, as much as I love Kim, she isn’t the same musically, or physically for that matter, so Nicki should give it a rest!

Enough already!

Every other song is a Lil Kim diss, and honestly, as much as I love Kim and miss the Hardcore Kim, she isn’t relevant in the rap game anymore, so why are you still “beefing” with her?

Who knows why Nicki is still throwing daggers. Maybe Nicki is running out of material or maybe she’s trying to teach Lil Kim a lesson, but whatever it is, it needs to stop.

Kim was once looking like an attention-crazed sore loser, but now, Nicki is unfortunately looking like the gloating winner that takes it one step too far.

This sh*t is super tired just like the Drake vs. Common beef.

So, I say find someone new to beef with – someone who will actually put the fire under your ass, not a rapper who sold her mixtape on PayPal.

Sheesh!
