Many were shocked last week when Cash Money announced that they had signed rock band Limp Bizkit

It seemed like such an odd and random choice to most people. Well most people aren’t Cash Money CEO Baby. To Baby, the signing made perfect sense, and he explained why in an interview with MTV.

Baby claims that he and his brother Slim were always fans of the group, so when Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst reached out, “it made all the sense in the world to us.”

Even though Cash Money is a primarily rap label, Baby feels like his newest union can work. He told MTV:

“We always do that and it’s something we want to continue as we spread the label around the world. It’s a rock world we’re entering but we want to bring them into the rap world — that’s what we do, that’s what we’re about.”

Baby describes this hybrid rock, rap world as “hip-rock.” Expect to hear the first strand of “hip-rock” next week when Limp Bizkit puts out their first song on the label, a collaboration with Young Money CEO Lil Wayne titled “Ready To Go.”

Hey, we’re ready to rock. What about you?
