Derrick Albert Bell, Jr. has become a topic of discussion in the last 24 hours, after video surfaced of a young Barack Obama speaking on his behalf during his time at Harvard University.

STORY: LEAKED! The Andrew Breitbart Video Of Barack From College

In the video, we see a young Barack speaking highly of his Professor.

STORY: Foul Play! Andrew Breitbart Threatened To Release Radical Videos Of Barack Before His Death?

Bell was the first tenured African-American professor of Law at Harvard University, and while there established a new course in civil rights law.

Wearing many hats as a teacher, author, scholar and activist, he contributed to the discussions on race like no one before him.

His goal was to examine the racial issues within the context of their economic, social and political dimensions from a legal standpoint.

Prof. Bell came from humble beginnings to become a leading scholar in American politics:

Prof. Bell was born in the Hill District of Pittsburgh, he received an A.B. from Duquesne University in 1952 and an LL.B. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1957.

In 1959, Bell took a position with the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Justice Department and he was the only Black person working for the Justice Department at the time.

The Justice Department asked him to resign his membership in the NAACP, Bell decided not to and quit rather than giving up his membership.

In 1969, Bell was hired to teach at Harvard Law School.

On October 5, 2011, Bell died from carcinoid cancer at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital, at the age of 80.

His personal relationship with President Barack Obama is now coming into question after conservative journalist Andrew

Breitbart revealed during a CPAC convention that he possessed damaging video of Obama during his young, radical college years.

Breitbart told the CPAC audience before his death that he would release the clip during the upcoming presidential campaign to expose the president’s radical roots.

In the video, which leaked after Breitbart’s passing, we hardly see any radicalism, only a young Barack speaking about Professor, Derrick Bell.
