Today’s Music Meeting is attended by members of Wu-Tang, Erykah Badu and Jay-Z’s newest artist you need to know about.

Meth, Ghost & Rae

Wu Massacre
The Sholin brothers that we most admire finally did the right thing and formed the three man squadron of Meth, Ghostface and Raekwon. The most consistant of the nine man outfit known as the Wu-Tang present a full album of any track that could be on thier individual offerings. On the heels of Raekwon’s critically acclaimed OBFCL2, the triad proves stronger as time goes on.  Rae’s ‘New Wu’ leaked early ’09 and gave us a taste of what was to come.

The beats are huge, lush productions with full body horn blasts and grimy basslines. The soul Wu ballad backdrops are in effect and will be a welcomed sound for long time Wu-Gambino lovers. Lyrically Meth steps his game up to the days of his early Tical rhymes. If it takes the addition of Ghost and Rae to light a fire under Johnny Blaze then they all need to just put out group projects. Ghost and Rae do what they do as always, so no surprise there. If you are looking for radio hits from this group, stop reading now. This is straight up black hoodie rap.

Last month I was invited to a listening session for the album at the CCCADI in Midtown Manhattan, put on by the good folks from Somo Arte, LLC.  in honor of Marvel Comics’ legendary Black characters (www.marvelouscolor.com/). While there I got video of the various visuals that some of the art world’s great produced for the gallery courtesy of curator Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez.
