This weekend in Toronto, Radiohead and fans were shocked when the outdoor stage constructed for their performance came crumbling down.

Police are still investigating the collapse while Radiohead mourns the death of their drum tech, Scott Johnson, 33, who was trapped under rubble when the top of the stage fell on him during set-up and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Radiohead’s drummer Phil Selway issued a statement on their website today about the deceased saying:

“We have all been shattered by the loss of Scott Johnson, our friend and colleague. He was a lovely man, always positive, supportive and funny; a highly skilled and valued member of our great road crew. We will miss him very much. Our thoughts and love are with Scott’s family and all those close to him.”

Three other people were hurt during the devastation but luckily the park was not filled to capacity and the show was not going on during the collapse.
