The new DeLorean may not take you into the future just yet, but it’s still pretty cool.

The style hasn’t changed – possibly to preserve nostalgia – but’s what’s under the hood definitely has.

The updated electric version of the DMC-12 DeLorean is any Back To The Future fan’s dream, but is equally amazing to the environmental enthusiast as well.

In its early stage, the all-electric DMC-12 features 35 kilowatts of power and a lithium iron phosphate battery pack – thus providing more than 250 hp and allowing the car to reach speeds of more than 100 mph with acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in less than five seconds.

Matt Farah of the TUNED web series got a chance to actually test drive the updated DeLorean, and tour the DMC headquarters alongside company president Stephen Wynne, as Wynne provided some background on the beloved automobile.

The vehicle is said to have an expected release date sometime in the middle of next year, which is good because it will give us all time to save up the $95,000 the vehicle costs. Just be aware that although the price is pretty high, you still won’t be able to time travel….yet.
