When you’re one of the most popular people on Earth like Rihanna, you’re bound to face some criticism from people who aren’t your biggest fans.

The 24-year-old singer is currently being accused of sanctioning violence by certain charities after her interview with Oprah where she talked about Chris Brown.

Vivienne Hayes, who works for the Women’s Resource Centre, believes that RiRi was more or less defending Chris’ abusive actions from back in 2009.

She told The Independent:

‘Rihanna’s case demonstrates the emotional complexities felt by women locked in abusive relationships.
‘Whatever the nature of the argument, [Brown] chose to beat her up. And we need to stop society allowing us to normalise such behaviour.’

In the interview with Oprah, Rihanna expressed that she “was more concerned about her best friend” after their domestic dispute.

While she doesn’t say that she condones his actions, charities are concerned she is sending a bad message to those who may become domestic violence victims.

Despite what the critics may think, Rihanna has always tried to be herself and do the right thing, and we’re proud of her for that!

Do you guys think Rihanna was sending a bad message?
