Management at the hospital have said that police and their own security staff stopped them getting near the 14-year-old last night.

As reported by the DailyMail:

The Taliban had vowed to target the teenager again following the shooting, saying she was attacked because she was promoting ‘Western beliefs’.

The schoolgirl, who is in a stable condition, was shot in the head by the group after demanding education for women in her home country.

She only arrived in Britain yesterday for medical treatment and reconstructive surgery.

Malala was flown in from Pakistan after militants shot her twice in a ‘barbaric attack’ as she made her way home from lessons.

The hospital’s medical director Dr Dave Rosser said: ‘Clearly, it is a police issue but I understand that a number of people turned up claiming to be members of Malala’s family, which we don’t believe to be true, and have been arrested.

‘We do not think that there is a threat to her personal safety. We believe that it is a case of people being curious.

‘We and West Midlands Police are satisfied with the security we have.’

He said they did not get inside the hospital, and added: ‘They didn’t get very far.’

But later West Midland Police said there had not been any arrests at the hospital.

‘They were stopped in a public area of the hospital and questioned by police, who recorded their details and advised the pair that they would not be allowed to see her.

‘No arrests were made and at no point was there any threat to Malala.

The hospital also confirmed Malala had a ‘comfortable’ night and doctors had been impressed by her resilience.

We continue to send best wishes to Malala as she recovers from the shooting.
